Lesson 15: Things that are of good report.
It seems that if it’s bad news, it’s big news. The headlines are dominated by what’s wrong and going wrong in this world, only interrupted by the occasional, feel-good human interest story. As Christians, however, we have the Good News of Jesus Christ and the daily opportunity to inject some “good reports” into the lives of those around us.
As we fast and pray during this 40 days, how are we being motivated to share the Good News of God’s amazing love and grace? What would the environment of our homes, our neighborhoods, workplaces or schools be like if we led the way in purposefully putting out there some reports of answered prayer and the power of God’s presence in our lives? Who is that we do life with on a daily basis that could really use some Good News? While others are focussed on what’s wrong in this world, what’s holding us back from giving some “good reports?”
Isaiah prophesied a long time ago what proves more true every day, “How beautiful on the mountain are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!'” Isaiah 52:7.
