Servant Leader,

Lesson 4 – Peace.

“He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, ‘Quiet! Be still!’ Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.” Mark 4:39

As you focus on your walk with Christ during this 40 days, dare to ask some probing questions concerning peace like… “How can we have peace with others if we aren’t at peace with ourselves?” And, “How can we have peace with ourselves unless we have peace with God?”

A deep, lasting peace seems to escape so many, even many Christians to a large degree. Why is this? Could it be that we seek to find and gain peace by our own efforts, or by demanding greater efforts from others? What would it look like if we tried to find peace through another source, a better source?
“A great many people are trying to make peace, but that has already been done. God has not left it for us to do; all we have to do is enter into it.”  Dwight L. Moody

The peace that comes through walking with Jesus doesn’t come in the absence of storms, but in the midst of them. Through Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, we have all the power we need to live lives of peace with Him, with ourselves and with others. By daily focussing on Christ through His Word and in prayer and then obediently, even joyfully walking in step with Him we are bound to discover a greater measure of peace in the midst of all that rages against it.
